Welcome back.
This month we went to visit Bluereef Aquarium which is based in Portsmouth.
This is somewhere that we haven't visited before, and are quite excited about.
Bluuereef Aquarium is along the seafront and is well-signposted the closer you get. When we first arrived we weren't sure where to park as you go past a couple of car parks before you arrive, but if you carry on driving there are a few spaces outside of Bluereef and a couple of disabled parking bays as well, so depending on the time of year you may be able to get a space outside the entrance, if not like I said there are a couple of car parks close by and don't forget to bring your blue badge if you have one.
On this visit, we decided to just take the wheelchair with us as I, at the time had a bad back and knew I wouldn't be able to drive my mobility scooter and needed something to lean on.
When entering you are welcomed at the entrance desk by a friendly team member who really enjoys their work and wants to help and make your visit as enjoyable as possible, so please ask if you have any questions they will help as much as they can. there is one wheelchair there that you can use if needed but it is based on a first come first served so please bare this in mind if this is something that you think you may need.
There are lots of different interactions as you go around for all ages and don't forget to find out the feeding times for the fish they are great to watch and have a go.
There are disabled toilets, but there isn't a call alarm bell so if you are with someone make sure they stay close in case you need help.
There is a lovely little cafe where you can have a nice cuppa and lunch or cake depending on what you fancy at the time.
Also, another thing that I loved is that you can go around as many times as you like and you can leave and have a visit at the beach or shops and come back again just make sure you keep your ticket handy to show when you go back.
Everything is all on one level apart from one part which is the viewing area where there are steps leading over the sting ray tank, apart from that it is all accessible with ramps in place. The main door when you arrive is manual but there is always a member of staff looking out for you if you need assistance.
There is an area before you walk around where you can leave your buggies or mobility scooter if you don't want to take it with you, Some areas are quite dimly lit but still easy enough to navigate through.
There are lots of different activities to do while walking around and in different seasons there are also added activities, but please check the website to see what is going on when you visit.
There is also an outdoor picnic area with a park and water park which keeps the children entertained while you sit back looking at the sea views while having a coffee break.
They also offer Junior Aquarist experience, VIP behind-the-scenes experience, and Birthday Partys. There is even a beach club.
They also do school and group visits as well.
(all links will be at the end)
We had such a lovely time visiting Bluereef Aquarium and would like to say a MASSIVE thank you for letting us visit so that we are able to share with others what to expect before visiting.
We would love to hear if you have visited Bluereef about .3what your experience was like. I'll leave some pictures from our visit and all the links at the end, also there is a link to the film we did there which is worth checking out and if you could subscribe to the channel that would really help support what we are doing, and it's free.
Take care see you soon.
